Roasted garlic, diesel and cracked pepper in one oily, frost-soaked bud. A Chemdawg x GSC indica-dominant cross with reported THC of 26-30%.

Garlic Cookies is a modern American cross that set out to push funk as far as it would go. One parent is Chemdawg, the sharp, fuel-heavy old-school line that sits behind a long list of diesel and chem strains. The other is Girl Scout Cookies, the sweet, resin-loaded hybrid that shaped most of the dessert genetics on today’s shelves.
Instead of meeting in the middle, the cross leaned hard into the savory side. Cured buds smell like roasted garlic and onion skin with a gas-station edge, and the Cookies parent adds thick, oily resin and a deep, settling potency. On many menus you will see the same cut listed as GMO, a nod to its garlic, mushroom and onion character.
The plant itself looks more like a chem strain than an indica. It stretches hard after the flip, spaces its nodes widely and builds long, spear-shaped colas that turn greasy with trichomes in the final weeks. These feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants, so your tent space goes to flower rather than pollen sacs.
Commonly reported as a slow, warm build: a quiet mood lift and a waking appetite first, then a deep body heaviness that settles in for the evening.
A mellow euphoria that settles the mood without racing the mind.
Many people report the munchies arriving alongside a weighted, couch-bound calm.
Heavy eyelids and a contented, sleepy finish are the usual end point.
With reported THC up to 30%, small amounts go a long way. Commonly reported downsides are dry mouth, dry eyes and, at high doses, anxiety or grogginess the next morning. These are general reports, not medical guidance.
Roasted garlic hits first, followed by a savory, almost brothy funk, diesel fumes and a peppery finish. There is very little sweetness here. In late flower the smell travels, so run a carbon filter.
Gives the peppery, savory bite on the exhale.
MyrceneEarth, muskAdds the heavy, musky base under the garlic.
LimoneneCitrus peelA faint bright edge that keeps the funk from going flat.
Keep the dry slow, about 60°F and 60% humidity for 10-14 days, then cure in sealed jars for three weeks or more. A patient cure rounds the garlic into something rich instead of harsh.
Rated moderate. The challenges are its big stretch, its long bloom and dense spears that need dry, moving air right to the end.
Indoors gives you the most control over this long-flowering cross. Plants usually reach 3 to 5 feet, but much of that height arrives after the flip, so veg it shorter than you think and leave headroom under the light.
Garlic Cookies inherits the chem habit of a big flowering stretch and wide internodes. Topping twice in veg and weaving branches through a SCROG net turns that stretch into a flat row of colas instead of a few tall towers. Strip the weak lower growth around day 21 of flower so energy goes to the tops.
This strain handles a fuller feed than most indica-leaning plants, especially in the middle of bloom. Taper nitrogen after week four, and add cal-mag if you run LEDs or soft water.
Most plants are ready 9 to 10 weeks after the switch to 12/12, and rushing it costs both weight and flavor. Use a loupe on the trichomes: mostly cloudy with roughly 15-25% amber gives the heavy, sleepy effect this strain is known for.
A typical indoor timeline. Keep veg short to control the stretch; the long bloom is fixed by the genetics.

Outdoor success with Garlic Cookies comes down to one question: will your fall stay dry until mid October? Plants grow 5 to 7 feet in full sun, and their long, oily colas need every week of the season to swell and ripen. Get seedlings outside as soon as nights hold above about 50°F to give them the longest possible run.
Wet weather is the enemy. Those spear-shaped buds trap water after a storm or a heavy dew, and the final three weeks are when mold most often appears. Space plants widely, prune the inner branches for airflow, and keep a cover ready if rain is forecast. Our outdoor planting guide lists planting windows by USDA zone.
Before you plant anything, confirm what your state allows. Adult home grows are permitted in some states and banned in others, and plant counts differ. Start with our state-by-state marijuana laws.
Warm, rain-free autumns give the long bloom all the time it needs.
Low humidity suits it, but a hard frost can arrive before mid October.
Possible with an early start; a cold, rainy October can cut the finish short.
The season ends too wet and too early for a 9-10 week bloom. Grow it indoors.
Plenty of heat, but muggy air and storms put the dense spears at risk.
Garlic Cookies is an indica-dominant hybrid. It grows with a taller, stretchy frame than most indica-leaning plants, but the effects people report lean firmly toward evening body relaxation.
Our supplier reports THC in the 26-30% range, which places it in the top tier of potency on our shelf. Actual numbers shift with phenotype, environment and when you harvest, so read that range as a typical high end rather than a promise.
Plan on 9 to 10 weeks of flowering after you switch the lights to 12/12. Outdoors, most US gardens harvest around mid October, and only if the fall stays dry enough for the buds to finish.
A well-tuned indoor room can return roughly 1.3 to 1.6 ounces per square foot. Outdoor plants in full sun can reach roughly 18 to 21 ounces each, depending on soil, season length and training.
It is rated moderate, so a first grow is possible but not the easiest choice. The long bloom and heavy stretch mean you need some headroom, steady humidity control and a little patience at the end.
Expect a savory wall of roasted garlic and onion-like funk, backed by diesel and cracked black pepper. The smoke tastes rich and salty-savory rather than sweet, and the smell in late flower is strong enough to need a carbon filter.
Outdoors it finishes best in inland California and the desert Southwest, where autumns stay warm and dry. In the Northeast and other short, damp seasons, an indoor tent or a greenhouse is the safer route.
Many menus use the two names for the same Chemdawg x Girl Scout Cookies cross, and the savory garlic profile and spear-shaped buds are the shared signature. We list it as Garlic Cookies; individual seed lots can still show some phenotype variation.
