Candy, gas and that sharp marker-ink nose. An indica-dominant cross of Biscotti, Jealousy and Sherb BX that finishes in 8-9 weeks.

Permanent Marker was bred in Los Angeles and reached dispensary menus in 2022. It spread fast, going from a handful of menus to hundreds in about a year and becoming one of the most talked-about strains of 2023.
The pedigree explains the hype. Biscotti brings dense, cookie-family structure and a sweet, doughy base. Jealousy, one of the most talked-about strains of 2022, adds potency and a sharp, gassy finish. A Sherb backcross ties it together with candy sweetness and heavy resin. The result is a compact, indica-leaning plant that stacks tight, frosty colas.
The name comes from the nose. Break a cured bud and many people pick up a sharp, solvent-like note that genuinely recalls a fresh marker, layered over candy, gas and flowers. These feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants, so every seed you germinate is aimed at flower, not pollen.
Consumers commonly describe a quick, happy lift that turns giggly, then a heavy body calm. Effects usually last two to three hours.
A bright, head-forward euphoria that often turns giggly.
The indica side takes over with heavy, settled relaxation.
Many people report drifting toward the couch, then sleep.
Reported THC near 30%: start with a very small amount. Commonly reported downsides include dry mouth and dry eyes, and at high doses some people report anxiety or dizziness. General reports, not medical guidance.
Candy and sweet berry up front, a gassy, peppery middle and a floral, soapy finish that gives the strain its name. It is loud in late flower, so plan on a carbon filter.
Behind the gassy, peppery bite.
LimoneneCitrus, candyLifts the sweet, bright top notes.
MyrceneEarth, muskThe heavy, settled base of indica-leaning cultivars.
Dry slowly at about 60°F and 60% humidity, then jar-cure for at least two weeks to keep the marker-and-candy nose.
Rated intermediate. The plant is vigorous and compact; the skill is keeping late-flower humidity low enough for its dense colas.
Indoors is where this strain shines. It stays compact, usually 3 to 4 feet, which suits a 3×3 or 4×4 ft tent. Rated intermediate, it rewards a grower who can keep humidity in check during the dense late-flower weeks.
Aim for roughly 600-800 PPFD in late veg and 800-1,000 PPFD in flower under LED. Top once at the fifth node, then use low-stress training or a SCROG net to build an even canopy of tops. A light defoliation before the flip and again around week three of flower opens the inner bud sites.
Feed moderately. Indica-leaning cookie crosses tend to burn on aggressive nitrogen in flower. Under LED, a cal-mag supplement helps prevent the rusty spotting that shows up mid-flower.
Most phenotypes finish 8 to 9 weeks after you switch to 12/12. Judge ripeness by trichomes, not the calendar: mostly cloudy heads give a brighter effect, while 10-20% amber leans heavier and more relaxing.
A typical indoor run. Veg length is up to you; flowering is set by the genetics.

Outdoors, Permanent Marker wants a warm, dry finish. Plants typically reach 5 to 7 feet and finish in early to mid October at most US latitudes. Plant out after your last spring frost, once nights stay above about 50°F.
The risk is fall moisture. Dense, resinous colas hold water, so autumn rain or heavy dew can invite mold in the last few weeks. In wet regions, thin the canopy for airflow, use a rain cover or greenhouse, and harvest on the early side if a wet week is coming. Our outdoor planting guide has dates for every USDA zone.
Always check your local rules first. Home cultivation is legal for adults in some states and not in others, and plant limits vary. See marijuana laws by state.
Long, dry autumns let colas ripen fully with low mold pressure.
Dry air helps; watch for an early October frost at elevation.
Plant on time and be ready to harvest before cold, wet weeks.
Humid late summers raise bud rot risk. Thin the canopy.
Heat is fine but humidity is high. Prioritize airflow.
October rain arrives as colas finish. Grow indoors or under cover.
Permanent Marker is an indica-dominant hybrid, usually described as about 70% indica and 30% sativa. It grows compact and bushy, and its effects lean toward body relaxation after a quick, upbeat start.
Our supplier reports THC around 28-30%, which puts it among the most potent strains we carry. Lab results vary by phenotype, grow conditions and harvest timing, so treat that range as a typical ceiling rather than a guarantee.
Most plants finish 8 to 9 weeks after switching to a 12/12 light schedule indoors. Outdoors in the US, expect a harvest in early to mid October depending on your latitude.
Candy and sweet berry up front, gas and pepper in the middle, and a floral, soapy finish that many people compare to a fresh marker. Caryophyllene, limonene and myrcene are the terpenes most often reported.
It is rated intermediate. The plant itself is vigorous and compact, but its dense colas need good airflow and late-flower humidity around 40-45% to avoid bud rot.
Indoors, a dialed-in setup can produce roughly 1.5 to 1.8 ounces per square foot. Outdoors, healthy plants in full sun can produce roughly 19 to 23 ounces each. Results depend heavily on light, training and environment.
The name comes from its aroma. Many people notice a sharp, solvent-like note in the cured flower that recalls a fresh permanent marker, layered over candy, gas and floral notes.
