What is the White Truffle strain?

White Truffle started as a single standout plant in a run of Gorilla Butter seedlings in the Pacific Northwest. It was kept for two reasons: a resin coat heavy enough to turn the buds pale, and a savory nose that smells more like a kitchen than a candy shop. It has been passed along as its own named cut ever since.

Its background explains both traits. Gorilla Glue #4 is famous for sticky resin and a sharp, fuel-heavy punch. Peanut Butter Breath adds a nutty, earthy, almost toasted depth along with a calmer, body-led effect. White Truffle pushes those notes in a funky direction, with garlic and earth layered over the gas.

The plant grows to a medium height on thick stems with strong side branches that carry chunky buds without much sagging. Broad, dark leaves can take on a smoky gray cast late in bloom, and short amber pistils peek out from the frost. These feminized seeds are bred to produce female plants, so every seed is aimed at flower.

How it feels

Consumers commonly describe a warm, settled mood and a grounded body feeling rather than a racy high. Larger amounts become noticeably more sedating, so it is usually saved for evenings.

  1. First 10 minutesWarm pressure

A gentle heaviness around the eyes and a content, steady mood.

  2. 30 to 60 minutesGrounded body

Physical relaxation builds while the mind stays calm and present.

  3. Later onEvening wind-down

Bigger servings lean sleepy, ideal for a quiet night at home.

Reported THC of 22-28%: take a small first serving and wait before having more. Commonly reported downsides include dry mouth and dry eyes, and some people report anxiety or dizziness at high doses. General reports, not medical guidance.

Aroma, flavor and terpenes

Earthy and savory first, then roasted nuts, a pungent garlic note and diesel-like fuel on the exhale. It is far from sweet and very loud late in flower, so a good carbon filter is essential.

Flavor notesEarthyNuttyGarlicFuel

Let the savory notes develop with a slow dry around 60°F and 60% humidity, then a jar cure of three weeks or longer. Short cures leave it grassy and hide the nutty depth.

How to grow White Truffle

Indoors, White Truffle usually stays between 3 and 4 feet. Thick stems and strong lateral branches let it hold heavy buds without much staking, and it fits comfortably in a 3×3 or 4×4 ft tent.

Environment

  • Vegetative: 72-80°F with relative humidity around 55%.
  • Flower: 70-80°F with RH at 40-45%. Thick, resin-soaked buds dry slowly, so keep air moving to prevent bud rot.
  • Airflow: place fans so the whole canopy moves gently, and run an exhaust fan with a carbon filter for the savory odor.

Light and training

Use about 600-750 PPFD in late veg and 800-950 PPFD in bloom under LED. Top once, then guide branches outward with light low-stress training. A round of defoliation around day 21 of flower clears the broad fan leaves that shade inner sites.

Feeding

Keep feeding steady but not heavy. The broad, dark leaves can hide early nitrogen excess, so watch for clawing tips and back off if you see it. Check the undersides of leaves regularly for spider mites and other pests.

Harvest timing

Most plants finish 8 to 9 weeks after the flip. Read the trichomes rather than the pistils: mostly cloudy for a balanced effect, or 15-25% amber for the heavier evening finish this strain is known for.

Seed to jar in about 21 weeks

A typical indoor schedule. Veg time is your call; bloom runs 8-9 weeks.

Week 1Week 21
  • Germinate weeks 1-1

Paper towel or plug at 75-80°F

  • Seedling weeks 2-3

    Mild light, 65-70% RH

  • Vegetate weeks 4-7

    Top once, spread the branches

  • Flower weeks 8-16

    8-9 weeks under 12/12

  • Dry and cure weeks 17-21

    Slow dry, three-week jar cure

Growing White Truffle outdoors in the US

Outdoors, White Truffle reaches around 5 to 6 feet and is usually ready in early October. That earlier finish is an advantage: it often comes down before the heaviest fall rain in many parts of the country. Plant out after your last spring frost once nights stay above about 50°F.

Warm, dry autumns are ideal. The buds are chunky and resinous, so moisture trapped inside them is the main threat. Thin interior growth for airflow, avoid overhead watering late in the season, and harvest a few days early if a long wet spell is coming. Our outdoor planting guide covers timing for every USDA zone.

Home cultivation rules differ by state, and some states do not allow it at all. Check marijuana laws by state before you plant.

Will it finish where you live?

ExcellentInland California and the Southwest

Long, warm and dry falls bring the frosty buds to a clean finish.

GoodColorado Front Range and Utah valleys

Dry air and an early October harvest usually beat the first hard frost.

GoodMidwest

The earlier finish fits most seasons; harvest before cold rain sets in.

FairNortheast

Plants can finish in time, but humid late summers raise mold risk.

FairSoutheast and Gulf Coast

Plenty of heat, but humidity inside chunky buds requires strong airflow.

White Truffle FAQ

Is White Truffle indica or sativa?

White Truffle is an indica-dominant hybrid. It grows medium height on thick stems, and its effects are usually described as calm, grounded and body-focused.

How strong is White Truffle?

Our supplier reports THC of about 22-28%, which places it in the high-potency range. Your results will vary with phenotype, growing conditions and how ripe you let it get.

How long does White Truffle take to flower?

Indoors, most plants finish 8 to 9 weeks after the switch to 12/12. Outdoors in the US, harvest usually lands in early October.

How much does White Truffle yield?

A dialed-in indoor grow can produce roughly 1.3 to 1.6 ounces per square foot. Outdoors, healthy plants in full sun can produce around 16 to 19 ounces each.

Is White Truffle beginner-friendly?

It is rated moderate. Its sturdy frame and reasonable bloom time help, but a beginner will need good airflow, a carbon filter and a light hand with nutrients.

What do White Truffle smell and taste like?

Savory rather than sweet: earth, roasted nuts and garlic, with diesel-like fuel on the finish. Caryophyllene, limonene and humulene are the terpenes most often reported.

Where does White Truffle grow best outdoors in the US?

Dry-fall regions such as inland California and the Southwest are ideal. Thanks to an early October finish, it also does well along the Colorado Front Range and across much of the Midwest.

Why is it called White Truffle?

The name reflects two traits. The buds are so coated in resin that they look white, and the earthy, savory, slightly funky aroma reminded people of truffles.
