Marijuana Seeds FAQ

Straight answers about ordering, shipping, germination, growing and the law, written for US growers.

Quick answerThe short version: we ship to US addresses only, from our own US warehouse, in plain unmarked packaging. Orders over $200 ship free, and orders before 1pm Central ship the same business day. Every 10 or 25-seed pack includes a free pack. You must be 21 or older to order.

Ordering & payment

What payment methods do you accept?

Available payment methods are shown at checkout once you've added seeds to your cart and entered a US shipping address. Options can change, so the checkout page is always the most accurate list. If you'd like to use a method you don't see there, email support and let us know.

Do I need to be 21 to order?

Yes. You must be 21 or older to buy from Best Marijuana Seeds, and that applies to every product we sell, CBD seeds included. Please don't order on behalf of anyone under 21 or ship seeds to them.

What pack sizes do you sell?
Every strain comes in packs of 5, 10 or 25 seeds. A 5-pack is the lowest-cost way to try something new. The 10-pack is our Best Value, and both 10 and 25-seed packs come with a free pack of any strain. Getting the most from your budget.
How much do your seeds cost?
Pricing is the same for every strain: $65 for 5 seeds, $120 for 10 seeds and $240 for 25 seeds. With the free BOGO pack, a 10-pack works out to 20 seeds at $6 each, and a 25-pack to 50 seeds at $4.80 each. How free packs work.
Do I need a code for buy one, get one free?
No. Buy any 10-seed or 25-seed pack and a free pack is added automatically at checkout. You choose any strain for the free pack, whether that's the same strain or something new. 5-seed packs aren't part of the offer. BOGO details.
What do newsletter members get?
Newsletter members hear first about strain drops and restocks, and get members-only promos. Our biggest everyday saving doesn't need a sign-up, though: every 10 and 25-seed pack comes with a free pack automatically. See every current offer on our deals page.
Can I change or cancel my order?
Yes, until it ships. Orders placed before 1pm Central go out the same business day, so email support with your order number as soon as possible. Orders that haven't shipped can be changed or cancelled for a full refund. Returns and refunds policy.

Shipping & privacy

How much does shipping cost?

Orders over $200, before taxes, ship free. Orders under $200 ship by USPS Priority for $20. Since a 25-seed pack is $240, it clears the free-shipping line by itself, and so do two 10-seed packs.

When will my seeds arrive?

Most orders arrive 5 to 7 business days after they ship. Order before 1pm Central on a business day and it ships that day from our US warehouse; later orders ship the next business day. A tracking number is emailed for every order.

What does the package look like?
A plain, unmarked parcel with no logos and no mention of seeds or cannabis anywhere on the outside. Inside, the seeds sit in crush-proof protection, so nothing cracks in transit. More about our discreet packaging.
How do you protect my personal information?
We collect the details needed to process, ship and support your order. Our privacy policy explains what we collect and how it's used. Please never email us full card numbers or passwords. We will never ask you for them by email.
Do you ship outside the US?

No, US addresses only. Every order ships from our own US warehouse, and our delivery estimates, shipping rates and germination guarantee are designed around domestic delivery. We don't sell into countries whose seed laws we can't responsibly follow.

What if my tracking stops updating?
Scans sometimes pause for a day or two between USPS facilities. If nothing has changed for 7 business days, email us with your order number. We'll open a USPS search, and if your package can't be found we'll reship or refund it. Lost package policy.

Seeds & germination

What are feminized seeds?
Feminized seeds are bred so that nearly every plant grows female, and female plants are the ones that produce buds. You don't have to spot and pull males, so every pot or square foot of tent space goes to a plant that will flower. Shop feminized seeds.
What are autoflower seeds?
Autoflowers carry ruderalis genetics, so they start flowering based on age rather than hours of light. Most go from sprout to harvest in roughly 8 to 11 weeks, stay compact and can grow under 18 or more hours of light from start to finish. Autoflower explained.
How do I germinate marijuana seeds?
Use the paper towel method: place seeds between damp paper towels on a plate, cover them and keep them dark at 75 to 80°F (24 to 27°C). Most show a taproot within a few days, but allow up to 10. Then plant them root-down about 1/2 inch (12 mm) deep. Full germination guide.
What does the germination guarantee cover?
Every seed that fails to sprout with our paper towel method within 10 days, including free BOGO seeds. Claim within 30 days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the seeds in the setup, and we replace them one for one, free. Once a seedling breaks the soil surface, coverage ends. Guarantee terms.
How long do marijuana seeds stay viable?
Stored cool, dark and dry, mature seeds can stay viable for several years, though germination rates slowly decline with age. A sealed, airtight container in the fridge works well. Keep in mind that guarantee claims must be made within 30 days of delivery. Seed storage guide.
How can I tell if a seed is healthy?

Mature seeds are usually hard, dry and dark, ranging from brown to gray, often with darker stripes or mottling. Pale green or white seeds tend to be immature. A good seed shouldn't crush when pressed gently between your fingers. Appearance is only a clue, though. Germination is the real test.

Growing

Which strains are easiest for first-time growers?
Look for an easy difficulty rating, compact height and good mold resistance. Autoflowers suit a first indoor grow because there's no light schedule to manage. Outdoors, choose a strain rated for your USDA zone so it finishes before frost. Browse beginner seeds.
How long does it take to grow marijuana from seed?

Autoflowers usually take about 8 to 11 weeks from sprouting to harvest. Feminized photoperiod plants take longer: typically 3 to 8 weeks of vegetative growth indoors, then about 8 to 10 weeks of flowering for indica-leaning strains and longer for many sativas. Drying adds about 1 to 2 weeks, and curing a few more.

How much will one plant yield?
It depends on genetics, light, space and your experience. Each spec sheet lists indoor yield in ounces per square foot and outdoor yield in ounces per plant as typical ranges. Our yield calculator turns your setup into a realistic estimate.
When should I plant marijuana outdoors?
Plant after your last spring frost, once nights stay above about 50°F (10°C). In much of the US that falls between April and early June, earlier in the South and later up north. Photoperiod plants then flower as days shorten in late summer. Outdoor planting guide.
Can I grow in a closet instead of a tent?
Yes, if you can control light, airflow and smell. Photoperiod plants need total darkness during their 12-hour night, so seal any light leaks. Add a small clip fan for airflow and an exhaust fan with a carbon filter for odor. Compact strains under 3 to 4 feet (90 to 120 cm) fit best. Indoor growing guide.
What is a USDA hardiness zone, and why does it matter?
USDA hardiness zones divide the country by average coldest winter temperature, from zone 1 to zone 13. For cannabis, your zone is a quick proxy for season length: lower zones usually mean shorter, cooler seasons. We pair zones with frost dates to suggest strains that finish in time. Learn more.

Legal

Are marijuana seeds legal in the US?
Federal status is changing. Since the 2018 Farm Bill, many sellers have treated seeds as hemp because the seeds themselves contain little THC. Section 781 of H.R. 5371 removes viable seeds from plants above 0.3% total THC from the hemp definition, effective around December 11, 2026. State laws differ too. See our legality guide. Not legal advice.
Is it legal to germinate seeds in my state?
It depends on the state. Some allow adults to grow a limited number of plants at home, some allow only registered medical patients, and some ban home growing entirely. Federal rules are shifting too under Section 781. Check your state guide and our seed legality guide. Not legal advice.
What is Section 781, and how could it affect seed orders?
Section 781 of H.R. 5371, signed in November 2025, narrows the federal hemp definition so it no longer covers viable seeds from plants above 0.3% total THC, including THCA. Most provisions now take effect around December 11, 2026. CRS summary. We'll update our shipping and product pages if it changes what we can send. Our guide. Not legal advice.
Why do you only sell to adults 21 and over?
Cannabis seeds are an adult product, so we sell only to customers 21 and over, CBD seeds included. That rule applies nationwide, whatever your state allows, and it stays in place while federal rules shift under Section 781. Background is in our legality guide. Not legal advice.
Can you tell me whether I can legally grow?
We can't give legal advice. Our state guides and seed legality guide summarize the rules and link to sources, but your situation (local ordinances, lease terms, medical status, and federal changes under Section 781 from around December 11, 2026) is a question for a licensed attorney in your state.

Legal answers on this page are general information, not legal advice. Seed and cannabis laws vary by state and are changing at the federal level. Confirm the rules where you live before you order or germinate seeds.
